Bomber runway, 7000 ft x 150 ft. 500 ft overrun on each end. Fighter runway 7000 ft x 100 ft

Surface: Coral

Elevation: 7 ft above sea level

Obstructions: Trees approximately 1000 ft from SW end of runway. 25-30 ft telephone poles 500 yards from SW end of runway. Clearance lights on poles.

RON Facilities: Accommodations for transient crews.

Service Facilities: Fuel and oil. Tank truck delivery. major repairs available in emergency.

Combat Air Service Unit, Advanced 42
Early 1945 to end of war. Possbly late 1944.

I have also found a Duty section list dated 18 October, 1945 that ndicates CASU (F) 61 was combined with 42 on the island at that time.

My father was an AMM-1 attached to 42 on Guiuan Samar until discharged in December 1945
